My AMAZING neurologist!

I just wanted to share the name of my wonderful neurologist Dr. Felix Brizuela who is located in Morgantown, West Virginia. I believe that he also has offices in Stuebenville, Ohio and Pittsburgh (or near it), Pennsylvania. I know he is certified to practice in all 3 states. He informed me that he was an "independent" doctor so he was not restrained with following a hospital or someone else's rules. He was trying to point out that he could explore different areas of treatment and medicine tailored to the patient. He took a lot of time with me, explained in detail TN and how and why he came to that conclusion, along with various medicine and treatment options. I have never had a doctor treat me so thorougly or spend that much time with me. He even made sure my husband understood my diagnosis. Dr. Brizuela was the answer to my prayers and I feel that he will do whatever is in my best interest. He also apologized for all the other doctors and how they would just pawn me off from one to another and dismiss me and my symptoms. For a professional man to apologize to me for all my pain and suffering that I encountered from others, is a sign of a caring, trustworthy and wonderful doctor. I would tell anyone is this area to go to him and don't fool with other doctors. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and finally I am on the right track.

It is a known fact that patients who feel cared for do better with their pain. I am so pleased for you. I have a great one also, it makes all the difference.

My doctor actually called me personally on Monday night. I was suprised and felt better too. So I hear ya.

Awesome!! So happy 4 U! I live in Pa, so I will look him up. I am still in search of a great neuraologist. Best wishes with ur treatmnts. Keep us posted on ur success!! Nicky

I hope you do look him up. I know his number in WV is 304-598-3964 and if you type in his name I think it gives you listings of all his offices. I had went to a previous neurologist locally, who told me there was no way I could have trigeminial neuralgia because I had facial swelling and facial swelling is not a sign of TN. He didn't do any tests and I was in and out of his office in the maximum of 15 minutes, probably less. He said all doctors sent their patients to him when they didn't know what else to do with them. I could only sit and stare and then I went home and cried and cried. I finally told my primary doctor, Dr. Haq- an endocrinologist-that I was through with the doctors around here and eith send me to Morgantown or Pittsburgh. The result was Dr. Brizuela. I am only still trying to get over being mad and upset that if I had went to him sooner I would more than likely have no permanent nerve damage. He said I would more than likely have some but not sure to what extent and to try and be positive that maybe I will be lucky and have none at all. He seems not to dwell on the negative but just informs you so you will know but talks more about how he can help me. Good Luck and please let me know if you go see him!

I live in Pleasant Hills[suburb of Pittsburgh,] I'm supposed to go to a neurologist next month after my MRI- may check this one out instead.

With this condition, you need all the compassion you can get. You ladies are SO brave. I hope I can be half as you.

Have you ladies heard of this? Got my hair done at a salon- sink felt uncomfortable-had a sore spot near base of skull for a few days- woke up on fifth day to find my face burning.

Hi - first of all - glad you found this doctor - it's a blessing.

can you tell us about the face swelling ? and how the doctor explains this ? i also had a but swelling and change in the jaw bone - doctors can't explain , and now is less seen. till today i'm convinced my damge there is due to inhlamation or pressure that got the area to swell at first. but the doctors don't recognize in that.

i'm curious to hear about your case,

nir

Awesome - I agree with Jackie. If you feel your doc is on the ball and caring for you, you will do much better. That's awesome. I'm so glad you found a good doctor to treat you. Good luck!

Hey was just wondering what do you hav? Is it typical trigmenial pain?
