Finally a Doctor that Cares!

I just met the best caring doctor who spent 45 minutes talking to me. He is a little mad about all of the doctors I have seen that never did an MRI because I didn't have the money. He was very worried about my age and extent of my nerve damage and the fact I have no feeling on the back side of my head ( which I never noticed until he did a vibration test today) he was also worried of what is causing me to have pain in all 3 branches of my face because you usually only have 1 or two but never all three especially in your twenties. He ordered me an MRI and a dye test at the local hospital and one in Little Rock he said out of both of them one of them should let it go through without payment up front and if not he will find a way for it to happen. He is contacting every establishment that will help with medical care to see what he can do to get me help. His daughter is a neurologist in a different state and he is calling her for some guidance and if needed to read my results. He said it doesn't seem good that there is a big possibility of a tumor, aneurysm, or MS but I may be lucky and it is none of them but I have pain in places that are not related the the trigeminal nerve so he is very very concerned. He said if we can find what is causing it they are all treatable but there is no good excuse of why I have been left to suffer for 2 years and no one would help me. He is also finding a neurologist for me that will take payments. He said I should not let all of this scare me because its just a possibility but my pain is also in my spine and I have no hearing in my right ear and blurring vision in my right eye. I told him nothing is scarier than laying awake in this much pain not knowing what is in your head causing it and believe you cant tell me anything I havent already thought about.

I am so glad you are getting help!!! Everyone needs a doctor like that who will do whatever is needed to help them.

I hope they get it figured out for you quickly.

Hi Mommyheather

You have found one of the “good” ones. Just being cared for can be such a relief. Let us know how it goes with the scans, etc.

Wow - you have a lot on your plate --- please tell us as your story unravels - you may be able to shed light on issues that others deal with. : )

Really shows how ONE person can make a difference!

Hi Heather,
sorry you are having such a difficult time. Good you found a doctor who will attempt to get to the bottom of your symptoms. I was reading your story on your page and alot of what you haave gone thru sounds familiar to what alot f us have experienced with problems with dental issues then TN. I also had 3 branches involved unfortunately for me it took them 23 years to diagnose my TN. It appears you found a good doctor that is willing to help you, getting a MRI good start too, so he can see if there is anything else going on. Keep us posted Heather, I will say a prayer for you. All the best.

Is this doctor a neurologist? If so, do you want to put the name under the recommended doctors tab???

So pleased for you that you have found a doctor that is trying to help.

Hoping that you will soon be able to have the scans and ongoing treatment that you need, it has certainly been a long difficult journey.

Hugs
Trish

No he is a pain management doctor, I could not afford our only neurologist in our town and he would not take payments. I was desperate for help and went to him instead. I think it may be the best choice I have ever made!

Are you in Little Rock, AR?

Glad you have found a doctor who cares! Ask him to check your MRI for an Arnold Chiari Malformation. It is structural abnormality of the skull that can cause a tremendous amount of symptoms, like numbness, blurred vision on hearing issues on one side. I have one, and it is more than likely the cause of my TN.
I hope you get some answers soon.
Best
Christine
