Tn and lyrica

hi my doc is trying me on lyrica, i am starting it today at 75mgs twice a day. does anyone no how long it takes to work if it does? thanks michelle

Yes, I take Lyrica and it helps somewhat. Not 100% pain control, but better. I was already taking something else when I started it, so I'm not sure how long it takes to work. Most meds like that have to build up for a week or so. Also, I take about twice that much.

I take 400mg a day and this is after sterotac. radio. surgery that was very good for me the second time. I was up to 1200mg a day prior. I don't rememebr exactly how long it took because I was weaned off something else, I want to say tegrol, and onto Lyrica so there wasn't a lag time. Lyrica has been a life saver-changer for me. hth, blessings~~

yes...it helps! I take 150mg a day with my trileptal and clonazepam...I am finally getting some relief; it has been a ROUGH few weeks, but this has helped. I wish the best for you!!

I'm on 100 mg three times a day, from what I've read 300 mg is the maximum recommended. Did you have any side effects from going higher? Lyrica doesn't bother my stomach like Gabapentin does. Gabapentin got rid of ALL my eye pain and its very frustrating that I have a perscription here that would get rid of my pain and I can't take it!!!

I was switched to Lyrica from Neurontin, which didn't give me much pain relief. Lyrica kicked in almost immediately, although some pain and/or discomfort is always there. My intial dosage was 75mg in the evening, after a week I got upped to 75mg twice a day. I must have been taking it about 2 months now, and I'm still on the same dosage. Lyrica has fewer side effects for me than Neurontin (the biggest one for me is that it doesn't make me so exhausted).

Hi, I recently started taking Lyrica. I alredy take Tegretol. I found that the Lyrica has helped immensely with my Fibromyalgia, but not so much with my TN.

P.s. it started working within ten days.

Sue, my specialist also says that 100mg 3 x day is the therapeutic dose.

The only side effects I have is it makes me sleepy. I take it at the same time every day. for me I found if I take it at 4pm while I wipes me out by about 6pm , I can still function but slowly and with much thought. I then am able to drive kids to school in the morning without feeling like I have a hang over. Works for me. My neuro and I worked on many scenarios to allow me to be a mom and wife and whatever else as much of the time as I could, functioning one that is ;-) Gabapentin was nasty on my stomach too and didn't seem to hit the pain well enough. Like pp said there is always a bit of something there. hth. blessings~~

I looked up the dosage recommendations and saw none for TN. This is what my neuro told me that it was used for nerve pain in other conditions. I did find that it says for epilepsy or pain after shingles up to 600mg a day or as recommended by your dr. Not starting a debate, Just made me curious....blessings~~

I am on 75mg twice a day, after coming off previous medication as it did not work. I have been taking it since June and its been a tough few months but finally feel like I’m getting somewhere and have had substantial reduced pain for at least a month now. Fingers crossed that this works for u xxx

YEAH JENNIFER!!!! glad you are finding some relief. blessings~~
