TN and Car Accident

Hi All...I have TN(2) for some 14 weeks now it started a few days after I had an accident in my car where I was stationary with my foot on the break and someone drove into the back of me. My family and friends are convinced that this has to be connected to me getting TN but my doctor says nothing is causing it....I had to demand to be referred to the hospital and have my first hospital appoint this wednesday at Neuro Dept. I would appreciate anyones comments on the possible connection or any advice of what I should be asking at my first hospital appointment. Thanks Jules

Hey Jules I’m so sorry u r struggling. I have a theory about my tn. Mine has developed after a an incredibly painful onset of bells palsy 3yrs ago. My symptoms are tn1&2 its been miserable. I’m sure during that scary experience some nerve damage occurred now certain triggers start that pain again. Maybe something similar happened during your accident. X

Thanks for your kind words, I'm new to sites like this...i dont even do facebook...and very new to TN only being 14 weeks in my doc is not at all sympathetic and I was physically sobbing in his office begging him for my life back the first 8 weeks were a blur of pain and feeling sick dizzy and I actually didnt leave the house (its a good job I have an understanding boss) my doc has told me nothing....I have been to the dentist - no problems with my teeth....so doc has said what I've got and sent me away with meds and some paperwork telling me causes eg blood vessels, tumor or ............meds are at it again my brain just cant think what I want to say its something with initials....this is what the meds do to me make me so I cant think what it is I'm on about. If it is nerve damage I have do nerves repair themselves? Its so good to speak with people that understand the pain and the nightmare of the dreaded drugs that we pump into ourselves with all their side effects. Hugs to you

Look at the top here…the groups tab…then find the UK TAB… People in your area can help.

Also, I have had many whiplashes in my life. It started the day an oral surgeon yanked my neck way too roughly.

If you get this from face injury, or from whiplash… Your anatomy was set for the trigger., some litteraly fall on their face and it triggers TN…forever. But it comes and goes with good treatment .

Does that make sense?

If you can, go lower a bit on the med dose
if you can, so you can be clear with neurologist.

Also, you may able to keep lower meds
if you insist to neurologist that you
want lidocaine patches for your face.

Find out what options they give you, on Wednesday
then come back here and let us know!

Eventually you will need to learn all you can about options.

Thanks for the tip of about the groups on the site I have just joined the Uk one so will see who I can befriend. Thanks also for tips on meds.
