TN, a weather forecaster? Take note Newcomers

Hello Members of The Disordered: This discussion comes up from time to time. Winter is coming to the Northern Hemisphere.

So, the weather had been summery for the last months. The first cold front was due the other day. The t3 nerve forecasted and welcomed the arrival as it has in the past. The onset of cold weather definitely is not comfortable for me. Cold air in the mouth jump starts the nerve violin concert: footsteps, car riding, toothbrushing and all the other stuff kicks up. Anyone else.

My post-MVD winter is on the horizon in the midwest - PTSD is creeping around !

Breathe..chin up..damn the torpedoes,full speed ahead

I hear ya…it’s cold here…cold air in the mouth, I forgot …was reminded today… :frowning:

I am not sure I have felt this due to cold air yet. I live in Norway so whereas winter is currently arriving or has just arrived to the Northern Hemisphere, we are right in the midst of it here! Temperatures hoveering around freezing with just a couple of degrees above or below. It has been cold since September. I have experience sharp pains due to cold water from a lake splashing across my face but I am not 100% sure I have experienced wind/cold air causing pain. Not sharp pains at any rate but maybe Type II pain. Its more difficult for me to identify triggers for that pain because it slowly builds up, it creeps on you, and its hard to determine the precise cause. being in Oslo, cold is a concern...

Oh, my neuralgia is a fantastic weather predictor....rain, snow, low clouds, cold fronts etc. I can usually tell you the weather before I get out of bed! Sometimes even the day before bad weather hits. And the move from Indianapolis to Casper, Wyoming dialed up my TN exponentially. The altitude was certainly not my friend!

Note to self: do not move to Wyoming. The cold weather is definately not a good time for me. I find that I have much longer periods of no pain at all during the spring and fall. Upon seeing on this site that some have increased pain before storms and such I’ve started to pay more attention to that, but since it IS type II it’s hard telling sometimes exactly what is triggering it to be worse or more reoccuring. I did notice, however, that prior to the “super storm” that recently hit our coast my pain was “off the charts”. Best wishes to all as the winter months continue!

This is my first winter with TN1, so I HOPE to be able to ward some of the effects off by keeping a scarf wrapped tightly around my head and face anytime I am outside. I will have to let you know if it works, LOL!

I am down here in the south and I have found that the slightest cool breeze will set mine off causing pains from the ear to the neck the scarves have become my new fashion item. I wear one all day and at night I have been known to sleep i a toboggan

Hi Donna, A wool scarf will most definitely help...a cold sudden gust will most def set my Type 1 off. I wish you all the best...Being cautious and aware of your weather situation really does help
