anyone with any hope out there?
Hi June,
Is it surgical site pain or TN pain?
Lily
sorry Lily bad morning one month since my 2nd mvd surgery and Im still having tn pain and surgical pain
My neurosurgeon told me it could take up to a year to heal totally from MVD surgery. He was right. It took 8 months before I got good pain relief and very close to a year for the surgery pain to stop. What makes me so angry is how neurosurgeons do not seem to do a good job totally preparing their patients for what can happen with MVD surgery. It is a easy surgery for them to do. They seem to forget it is not a easy surgery for the patient. I am grateful for the fact my neurosurgeon prepared me for all that could happen. Sometimes he scared the crap out of me, but I went into it with my eyes wide open.
Hi, I am still fairly new to this site. I had MVD surgery 2 1/2 months ago on Aug. 30th. My surgery was successful and I have not had any TN pain since. But, I am still weaning off of the medication, which means, I am still taking 400mg of carbamazepine daily. I am finding the recovery to take awhile. I still have facial numbness that comes and goes and sometimes when I do a lot more activity , such as house work, walking, etc it seems to be worst.
Does any one know how long it takes to fully recover from MVD surgery. I have been told a few months to a year and does anyone else have these symptoms. I also still have the tingling in my face , mostly when I lay my head down.
