That was embarrassing! The discussion was supposed to read ; I have my first appointment with a neuro next week and apart from the fact I'll be refusing an MRI (major claustrophobia) does anyone have any tips on how toget the best out of the appointment? After all, it is costing me a truck load of money.
Do you live near an open MRI at a lab or hospital? Its for claustrophobia! Google it!
MRI for us is also for brain tumor pressure and to look for MS.... to rule those out.
Have you ever tried doing it with valium?
However, I went to the oldest practicing MVD surgeon for TN/
and he doesn't rely on absolute MRI proof of TN
I think he looked at mine, but he doesn't rely only on that to do MVD. That says a lot about TN, you can have it, even if they don't see it!
Go to google images and print off which one looks like you
Google image: Trigeminal Neuralgia
Google image: Atypical face pain
print off your own sorta MRI !
Show them on your face, where your pain paths are. Tell them what your triggers are.
Good luck! Hope this sorta helped!
Also ask how many TN patients they have.
You need somebody who will work as a team with you as you
learn as much as YOU can about this progressive and rare condition
You, K.C., are a marvel! I read all your responses to everyone else's discussions and you should change your own name to Google!! My biggest problem with the MRI is I cannot envision myself actually getting into a car with anyone and going to the appointment. Valium or no Valium. He is just going to have to assess me on my symptoms. My GP suggested he could maybe do a scan with contrasts. I will look up Google though as you suggested. Thanks!
