MRI unremarkable

I just got results from ANOTHER MRI and it basically says I’m fine. This one was with contrast to target the Trigeminal Nerve, itself. I feel hopeless. I was hoping that they’d find evidence and I could get MVD or Gamma Knife and get off these horrible meds that are making me crazy. Pain has increased with the snowy weather.
Any thoughts? MB

MB - I had two MRI's done (both with and without contrast). Two radiologists, two neurologists, and two neurosurgeons saw nothing (no compressions) and all was "normal'. I traveled out of state to a third neurosurgeon who clearly saw two compressions. He is a seasoned surgeon and a TN expert. He did my successful MVD more than two years ago and I remain pain free and med free. Please get a second and maybe third opinion and find a TN expert. You can read my story I wrote that goes into more detail here . . . Trigeminal Neuralgia: How I Survived The Worst Pain Ever.

I have my follow-up with the neurosurgeon on the 25th. I just read the results online. Maybe he can see something. I have read your story. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! I am so happy that you are pain free and med free!

MB - Keep in mind that it takes a very trained eye to see a compression and that sometimes even the best neurosurgeons cannot see the compression. That doesn't mean it isn't there. Many seasoned TN neurosurgeons will still go in and find a compression almost every time. If what the neurosurgeon says doesn't make sense to you, seek another opinion. Find out his/her experience with TN patients in and out of the operating room. Best wishes to you and don't ever give up. So happy that my story could help.
