Muffet so were your occlusionoblem is solved by a chiropractorou don't do anything with your teeth ?
elstep - wish i could upload the photoes here.. the most important CT is in a disc.. and on a file you can't tell black from grey. it's VERY bad quality.. no point of uploading it.
as for the panoramic XRAY...so many (tens) of doctos seen it - and said it was OK... i don't belive anyone would see something wrong in it..
Hi Nir, No a dentist must take care of equilibrating the occlusion…but as long as there is a problem it causes muscular tension and crevical veterbre problems, which you do not always feel. Last Wednesday the dentist equilibrated my occlusion, normally now my bite is comfortable, yet I still went yesterday to the chiropractor there was again this first veterbre out of position, the problem is the muscle tension remains awhile even fter having adjusted the occlusion. My goal now is to get some good stretching exercises for my next and constantly be conscious of tension in my face muscles. If the nerve goes bozo because of unseen pressure, well it could very well but muscular and skeletal pressure and that is where I am putting my money. It is expensive to go all the time. But I definitely have made a connection between getting zapped in my forehead and my neck situation. I am convinced that my occlusion has been off for years, I clench my teeth at night and I feel certain that this clenchg over time has caused my TN problems. I have noticed that relaxing either by exercise or hot bath or medication even helps…so why does relaxation help?.. Nir did you try the strength test with your mouth open then closed??? The only way to diagnose occlusal problems is with colored paper at the dentist and with a Denis that knows what he is doing!
Muffet, some things you were saying are interesting about the muscles in the face. I have been to a chiroprator for years for adjustments on my upper back. Well, recently,it stopped working. So I went to the doctor and they referred me to a physical therapist. After six weeks the pain is gone. Now i do these exercise myself since January and the pain STILL has not returned in my upper back. I do have ATN, typed II. So I'm wondering if there are some type of exercises that we can do for our faces in some way.... IDK. But the therapist even told me, that the chiropractor's are important because they adjust the bones to put them into place, but the muscles and ligaments get swollen and need therapy and most times the chiro's don't mention this to you. I am just relieved that I don't have to deal with that pain on top of ATN pain. :)
Hi Min,
Thanks for the encouragement I wonder why all of that did not help you with the TN problems. There must be something that we all have in common!!!I just found a great article entitled “relieving stress-mind over muscle” gives some good examples of relaxing muscles in the neck and the power of muscles of mastication and habits of tensing jaw and forehead when under stress. personally I just have to believe that the causes of TN can be not only pressure or inflammation from infection. Aside from those two causes…affectionately Muffet
Muffet - i do admit i didn't tryed the test. i tried doing it alone - of course i can't. feel uncomforatable to ask someone cause they think it's silly. but i'll see.
the occlusion balacing - does that mean "looking for hieghts" in mouth ? with the paper ? usually that doesn't should last more than one seesion right ? so you mean you are done with that ?
all the hot tubs etc. tips are good.. but only for a while...i mean.. it' hard living all they on tips. for exaple - i noticed that massaging my cheeck help (a bit just a bit).. but it's tiring to all day massage the cheeck.. i get exahusted from that. and pain.. ALMOST EVERY time i CLOSE my mouth (to talk , realx) it'l like KNIVES.. it's a nightmare. what is it ? i think of removing my wisdom theeth so they won't touch each other. it spasm such a knife pain. i don't think it will help my deep pain in jaw.. but maybe take "half" of the pain.
also - i DO and DID from the begging see the connection between neck movemt and even hand movement to that pain. there are no specific movement but i fell the conection.
maybe even the deforamaion of my face ...is due to face "switching" a but out of place.
we don't have gere chiroracts with knowledge if TN pain.
it's so good to hear you optimistic about your way.. sure sounds promising. very.
thanks for the encuorage

(do they do a full mouth occlusion cdheck ? doesn't it a problem to start removing heights from several teeth...?
I don't mind at all, I agree on the several opinions. I actually went to a different dentist two days ago just to get an opinion about my treatment plan and to make sure that the pain i am feeling is not tooth related and non-emergency pain. I did have root canals done at UIC but the pain started long before Iwent there, and actually I cannot pinpoint when it happend I just remember being numb and my face was on Fire. I was thinking "oh my god, my face feels like this when I'm numb I cant imagine what its going to feel like when the novacaine weres off" when I had feeling back in my face the pain was more of a normal tooth pain and not the burning. I started to notice this each time I had dental work done, "the burning" for a long time I just assumed that it was because I had so many infections and they were cleaning them out, kinda like alcohol on an open cut, it burns. so when I started going to UIC (in 2011) they were doing more aggresive dental treatment to try and get rid of all the decay and infections, in doing so I kept telling them that I could feel everything and it wasnt numb "it hurts! it burns!" then the burning just never got better after that. they told me "everything on the right side is cleared up there is no reason for your pain" (this was after that pano by the way). so i guess eventually that all lead me to the neuro doctor and now here I am feel a heck of a lot better then i did but still having much pain....

Sarah: Good to see you have a plan in order for your teeth. Hope you didn't mind me sharing your pano here? It's always good to have several opinions and I'm hoping what Muffet stated is comparable to what you know about your situation. Did you have the root canals done at UIC? Did the burning pain start with the root canal tooth#? (the one with the arrow)?
Nir: The only type of actual damage I've ever seen showing on any xray is the overfilled root canal. Since yours started before root canal I would not think yours is root canal related.
Hi Nir every time you explain your pain, I think of your occlusion. You speak of heights and that is the problem, there should not be any, you should hit everywhere at the same time!. we know ourselves. often better than the docs where the problem lies, and lots of people think TN comes from teeth!!! dAs far as the test don’t you mind if someone thinks it is silly, it is AMAZING and you can admit it and still ask them to do it…then try the same on them to see what happens!!! Usually a dentist that is in know about occlusion can straighten things out in a 30 minute session! Hey could be your wisdom teeth are upsetting yur bite but it could also be the dental work they did in the past. Once your occlusion is in order But you will probably need some good massage therapy, osteopathy or physical therapists to get your veterbre and muscles relaxed again!!! Don’t loose hope and make some phone calls you cannot live like this!!! what country do you live in??? Muffet

Here is a statistic for you 75% of all disease is caused by infections. And when a tooth needs a root canal it is often because of bacterial infection in the tooth, the tooth is connected to the body so the bacteria can easily cause inflammation in the surrounding tissue, thus provoking TN. TN is not always an issue with tooth problems but it seems that with all my experience as a dental hygienist, 35 years, I am now personally experiencing this TNpain in relation to an old root canal which has now an infection. I am quite astounded, for I do no remember ever learning that there was a connection. So how many dentist out there realize it??? They always say it is a mysterious deal and there is no apparent cause. I do not want to believe that. I have two different types of TN cheek, which is related to the infection and forehead which is related to my past occlusal problems. Now if my theory is correct I should soon be pain free YES!
Hi Sarah, interesting that they told you that the right side was good, because looking at the pano there are still some suspicious places on the right side from my point of view, which could explain the burning pain that remained long after the treatment was finished. I hold to my theory that once your teeth on in order your pain will stop!! Be go good courage!
