Last year my tn was really bad on my left side and was admitted to hosp for 3 weeks then had surgery done (twice!!) to damage the nerves. Then put on topiramate, oxcarmazapine and anitrypiline.
Anyway getting to the point over past 2-3 months I have been getting the odd stabbing and shocks then getting more current so i am now on the highest level of my tablets
Two weeks ago my gran died who I was very very close to and now the tn has hit me hard on the right side. Ive got the stabbing, burning, shocks etc on both sides now.
All this meds and I probably wouldn't feel it if I was hit by a bus but these dam face pains still get through.
My family keep telling me the tn has come back because off the stress and all the emotion from losing my gran, and it will all settle down soon, could they b right???
It could possibly be true. If the stress is making your blood pressure a little higher, the artery or vein could be pulsing on the nerve more. I hope it settles down soon for you.
I have TN and I agree with your family. Stress makes a big difference to me, if I get worked up about anything, off we go again. Pain all down my jaw, round my ear down the side of my nose and right across my left eye. I take my meds try to calm down and sleep. For me a few hours later it subsides a bit after a few days its much more manageable.
Its a big deal loosing your Nan, and I am sure it will be a while before you can remember her with a smile instead of tears. I lost my mum last year. Its a very difficult time.
Hang on in there try not to freak out with the pain and almost accept it as part of your grieving process for your Nan. I hope that it gets more reasonable, and easier to handle. I will be praying for you and your family for your loss.
Lizzie
I am so sorry for your loss and increased pain. Many members do say that stress exacerbates their pain. I know that is the case for me often times. However I have had extreme stress and no increase in pain. But as of yet, no one has been able to gain a complete handle on the true nature of TN!
Thank you very much ladies for your answers. It helps so much when there is someone to ask and compare notes with.
Lizzie thank you for your kind words as you will know grieving is hard enough without having this added pain xx
Hi Peaches, stress for me triggers sometimes, it seems alot us battling with this disorder have various triggers and one is stress. Unfortunately there are times like you going through the loss of your gran makes it difficult to keep at bay. Let me send out my condolences to you for the loss of your gran. These losses are always hardbut especially when its a grandparent that we ate very close too. As far as the TN calming down, it may and then sometimes its just enough trigger to linger or hang around without being invited. TN is such an unpredictable disorder. I will say a prayer for you that it quiets down. Hoping things get better for you and once again my deepest sympathies. Your Gran will watch over you, I truely believe this
My Best
Sorry for your loss..... Stress flares TN and TN flares stress - we can't win!
Have you ever tried anything topical on your face? There is a group on that under the groups tab....it may help calm it down....
Hi Peaches, so sorry for your loss. I have had such losses too since TN came into my life. The pain intensified and then subsided with care and quiet and time.
Peace and Kindness
