Well I meet with my neurosurgeon today and we are going ahead and doing MVD on my left side. Just waiting to hear from the scheduling department. Could be as early as the end of this month beginning of next! In the mean time I have to have two wisdom teeth pulled next week :(
As for my right side we are going to play it by ear. We will try to wean down the Tegretol a couple months after surgery to see how the right reacts. With the 3T scanner MRI the compression wasn't seen on the right side so surgery is out for that side. For now the plan is to concentrate on the left side and see how the right reacts and then most likely see pain management as needed.
Congrats! The mixed feelings are normal. I broke out in a nervous rash for 2 weeks before surgery. Haha. I had never had that happen before. I hope surgery on just one side helps.
I was bed ridden with anxiety for 2 weeks before the MVD -- that was a waste -- it went fine!!! I would do it again for these pain free results.....#1 thing to remember -- pain reduction or removal may take up to ONE YEAR for the nerves to heal!!
Thank you both, but I had TN prior. My wisdom teeth aren't impacted I just have a large cavity in one of them and have verified with multiple dentists/oral surgeons the cavity is nowhere near the nerve and not causing me any of my pain. I am actually having my MVD on my left side which is not the side with the wisdom teeth issue. Thank you though for looking out for me :)
Hope all goes well for you. I have had aa MVD the end of November. Just going back to work in two weeks but have to admit this is just a vacation now before I go back. Feeling really good and ready to get my life back. Still waiting for complete pain gone but but well on it's way. Weaning off drugs slowly and so far so good.
BTW my anxiety before my surgery was causing me to cry for no reason.
