hi everone .. am just asking my husband Roy as tn2 and i was just wondering does flying affect this illness ?? also so can the heat trigger of a bad attack ?? thanks everone jackie x x
I too am wondering this. I know the cold hurts my TN but what about the heat and flying to a warm destination. Thanks, JA
I suffer from TN2 and flew four times in the past few months. Each time I felt major pressure on that side of my face, almost like it's going to explode (if that makes any sense). I do have inflamed sinuses on that side though so not sure if that's the problem or if the TN2 is the problem.
Heat is not a trigger for me.
I have heard stories both ways, flying flares up the pain for some, but not for others. I've read of many patients who coordinate with their doctor and up their meds a little as an attempt to prevent a flare up. Good luck!
I was a frequent flyer throughout my TN experience. I had a MVD almost a year ago and pain free.
I NEVER had any pain while flying and I was flying over 50K miles per year and going to Europe so I was on long haul flights. The stress of thinking something can happen can trigger your TN so ask you doc for something to keep you calm. I would just take dramamine before a flight.
Good luck!
I was on a cruise recently and the warmth of the air did not hurt it - but I had a setback when leaning over the rail and letting the warm wind blow my face as we sailed out of port
Flying did not make it worse for me -- I always carry lidocaine just in case - to put on the face
I have flown a number of times and have not had any problems. I agree with Raquel's comment on stress. Also, I usually take an extra hit of pain meds for the journey. Let us know how your flight goes. Maybe we should live on airplanes.
hi everone :) thanks so much for all your replys , i will let you no how my husband roy gets on .. when we do fly .. love jackie and roy x x
