Anyone got any favourite recipies for when life gets tough?

Hi Everyone,

Its seems to me when the GPN is active eating and drinking can be a real issue for you. Would you share what you're best recipies and tips are for when it gets tough? For me, when the TN plays up I can go six months without eating anything solid. A favourite of mine is warm donuts or mango smoothy. Unfortunately, my nutitionist doesn't approve. Supposed to enjoy a salad with olive oil which is fine if it goes through a blender (not). Anyone got any favourites they'd like to share? Photo's welcome :)

Smooth soups! The cream of zucchini is my favorite, but all three are good and easy to make!

I end up drinking a great deal of hot chocolate. I just follow the recipe on a Hershey’s container, but use vanilla powder instead of vanilla and add in ginger, sometimes some cinnamon too. Not that great because of all the sugar, but I’ve tried making it with Truvia baking mix (which is a Stevia, sugar blend), but it didn’t turn out as well. I think there is something to the slight carmellization when you boil the cocoa, sugar, spices, and water that contribute to the flavor.
A great deal of soup, Miso is a favorite.
Bird’s Custard

Unfortunately, I don’t think a nutritionist would be thrilled with most of those choices either.

I don't have TN, but I may be weird, and never notice it worse from eating, or no more than for, say, my TMJ (and really, I thought this was TMJ for years. I suspect I have had it for a long time, but assumed it was TMJ. Turns out, my TMJ side is the other side.) Soups generally are my go-to when I don't want to chew. Our ice cream - surely your nutritionist would approve of that? ;-)

Good old porridge ;-)

anything soft and warm, HAS TO BE WARM.

hot chocolate, warmed up glasses of slimfast or any other meal replacement drink. creamy soups. especially cream of chicken.

when it is really bad, I slam glasses of ensure or other high nutrition drinks, warm. something I can hammer down, then sit and cry about the pain after....but at least it is in my stomach now......

Yum :) Zucchini and hot chocolate sound wonderful!

Thick warm bland soups helped for a while. I didn’t have to chew. At the worst of my GPN, it didn’t matter. Everything made my pain trigger with every swallow. Hope you find relief.

Some great suggestions here.. keep them coming in :)

Ice cream and Popsicles numbs the nerve. It’s not food but the trigeminal neuralgia blocks I get help with the gpn.

Well the nutritionists would love us wouldn't they LOL Hot chocolate, dohnuts and popsicles! Stella, if you don't mind sharing, which blocks do you get for your TN?
