I was supposed to get the results from my MRI/MRA scan on Friday but my neurosurgeon had to cancel. I'm slightly bugging out because I want to make sure everything is ok. I had my MVD surgery almost 2 years ago on my left side, but still have a constant burning pain about 10 hrs of the day on that side ( I was diagnosed as having in between type 1 and type 2 ) . However now occassionaly I get the same god awful kill me now pain on my right side and I'm wondering If anyone can read the photo below to see if they can see anything ?? As you can see on the left side the buffer ( which is what it better be) that was placed in between a blood vessel and the nerve. I know not always does something come up in an MRI ( my first scan was clean and there actually was the blood vessel ) .. but being I have the pain on both sides, and I know that Bilateral TN is rare.. I'm a bit nervous. Like one side wasn't killing me enough.
I have bilateral as well, mostly right side pain, left is more of an annoyance. I cant read your MRI, mine looks completely different than yours. I would love to learn how they read these suckers, they make no sense to me. Luckily I have a neuro that showed me what he was looking at.
Thanks so much for the responses !! I too would love to know how to read these things .. I thought Bilateral was much more rare ! like just 5% ... At first I thought I was losing my mind once I started feeling pain on the other side of my head. My heart totally goes out to all of us who suffer with this pain .. but especially the ones suffering with bilateral TN.
You arent going out of your mind, its just this disorder or crap as I like to call it!! I was also told that one side can mimick the other, but I dont buy it, and I was told it was impossible to have both sides until I went to a great neurosurgeon who specializes in tn. I am hoping yours will do what mine did and go over the MRI with you so you can see exactly what they are talking about. It makes it easier to decide on treatment, at least I think so, when you have something concrete to look at.
