I wanted to find out if anyone has had success with glycerol injections. I had surgery at 16 from diagnosed with TN at 14, and Gamma knife last year. I am 40 now. This is the next option as I've exhausted all meds. Did this help anyone, what was the experience like? How long were you down for? A day? What else is out there procedure wise that I could try that you've found helpful?
Please discuss in depth with your neurosurgeon. There is more than one type of injection. Are rhizotomies an option for you?
Sergio
I had a glycerol injection which gave me relief for about three months. Went to hospital in the morning had general anaesthetic, had injection, allowed home about 4.00 that afternoon. Went back to work after another day off. Badly bruised face so get some Arnica cream to apply.

SergioNo. I've had surgery at 16 that cut the nerve and gamma knife last year. They are saying now they don't think the injections will even help. It's just shooting phantom pain that they can't help with surgically or with an injection. Just frustrated at this point. I'm in a lot of pain. I have had it so long (for 24 years) and I just wish I could catch a break of no pain like I did when they first did the surgery.
