I had a Glycerol injection a few weeks ago, it seemed like it was working when I wrote the discussion a few weeks ago on here. I have Atypical facial pain, and the glycerol injection made me hurt worse, and have new pain from it. My forehead get horrible pains in it and hurts over the eyebrows to, which is then Trigeminal nerve. I have horrible ear pain, which feels like ice picks stabbing in my ears, it is a different kind of neurgalia. I am in so much pain, and my doctor is talking about doing Gamma knife surgery if the increased doseage of medicine doesn't work. My gums feel as if they swell up twice the size and horrible pain and my throat gets bad nerve pain also. Yes this involves the Trigeminl nerve and all facial nerves. So much pain. I feel so alone in this at times.
My number one question for now… Are you seeing DR. LIM.?
No I am seeing Dr. Jeff Jacobson. He is partners with Dr. Lim, and he is rated number one in a Wasington ton post magazine, I think that was the name of the magazine, but not 100% sure, he had it in his office. He has been doing surgery in this for 30 years at John Hopkins.
So sorry to hear the Glycerol didn’t work …the fact it made it worse reminds me of what my neurosurgeon told me recently…“any further procedures could worsen my TN” please research before deciding to do any further procedures. I know we’re all different, but I’d rather you get a few opinions or at least ask your current specialist the risks…
We all feel pretty alone with this Summer, it’s an isolating condition for sure! That’s why it’s soooo good to be able to come here to LwTN and commiserate with & support each other .
Huge (( hugs )) sending positive vibes!
Mimi
Yes it does feel alone, and it gets tiring, and yes this website is good.
