What can E.R. do for me?

What can they do at ER? I’m having tremendous pain but don’t know if I should go. It’s so cold outside. What can they do for me?

Debbie, hi hun I am sorry that you are having so much pain today. If you go to the ER and you tell them that you have a DX or TN they can give you a “nerve blocker” and they will not let you go until it is under control. I have not been to the ER for this (yet) but they do it for migranes I do know that. Hope you get the help you need.

Than you.

Hey Debbie, so sorry to hear you’re hurting. I’ve been to the ER multiple times. Part of the reason is because I work in a hospital, sometimes in the ER itself. What they have done for me is just give me IV pain meds until I pass out. I would save going to the ER for when its the worst of the worst though. Because of the nature of an ER, there’s a lot of people that go in there looking for narcotics to get high. Now we all know that we have a good reason for going and that almost all pain we have is probably worse than anything anyone else has experienced. But if you’re hurting GO. Make sure you or a family member explain that you have been diagnosed with TN and who your primary care doc and neurologist is. The docs there will want to help and will like I said probably give you IV pain meds and something to calm you down. But that’s just my experience.

Hi Debbie I hope you find relief soon Hope the ER can help you with the pain I’ve felt like I had to go there plenty of time’s just thought they would give me more med’s and the waite I was not up for so took a little more med’s and went to bed tried to sleep some time’s no help. Hope you feel better soon!!!

Debbie, my first major attack sent me to the ER, they were able to give me an IV pain reliver and it brought it under control. If they had not acted I do not know what I would have done. I had gone to my dentist earlier in the day thinging it was a really bad tooth ache. He gave me Loretab and after the third one with no relief, is when we went in. that was also when my doctor determined that I had TN. So they can help.
