Does anyone know what the difference between Gamma Knife and Cyber Knife and which one is better

No I am going for a consult with a neurosurgeon and they say they use Cyber Knife I am pretty conviced on getting a MVD

Thank you for your Responce

I have had the Gamma Knife and after a few months or sort did not have any pain.

I had stereotactic radio surgery and it was great. I needed to have this done twice, unfortunately. I was no worse for the wear. I took something for anxiety, as having my head screwed into the board in an enclosed area was a bit much for me. I have had very good results, and now only take 300-600mg of lyrica depending on the time of year.I went to UCLA Dr. Antonio De Salles who was referred to by Dr. Neil Martin. Cannot say enough about how great UCLA was. Now my time with Standford was not good. That's a different topic ;)

I have had both! A Cyberknife for a AVM they saw in preparation for MVD surgery. It takes a long time to shrink it so the pain came back fiercely.I had Gammaknife strictly to treat the pain and it worked out well for me.I was told the Gamma was more accrurate and pinpointed the correct area.I have some tingly numbness occasionally, but have been TN pain free for a bit over a year.I would recommend MVD surgery over radiation in most cases.Good Luck!
