Hi, Im scheduled for Cyber knife treatment this thursday, has anyone already had it?
Dear Mags:
I have had gamma knife at Marshfield Clinic (Wisconsin) in December 2012 and again in March 2014. The first time I didn't get relief for 3 months and was pain free with twinges for 8 months. After November 2012, got pain back, white knuckled it with no meds until my recent gamma. I got relief in 3 days and have been pain free since...knock on wood! I have Type 1, located on right side of nose area....It was a breeze and I got a lot of mileage out of this photo. I'd do it again, but likely can't, I had to have gamma because of scar tissue in the area from a previous brain surgery.
My sister was just diagnosed, but as she's never had any brain surgery, she said she'd go for MVD if the drugs don't control it.
Worst part is the injections to numb your head where they screw in the frame, I went out to lunch after and drove the 3 hours home!

Many have had it… Put it on search box.
How long is this supposed to make you better?
Since You have TN1, if this doesn’t make you better,
Are you available to get MVD surgery?
Hi, had it a year ago and my pain attack is back. May be better for you all my best wishes. Right side of my face is numb, my right ear is blocked from the operation and my right temple is still very sore to touch. I may of just had a bad doctor. I'm back on meds and thinking about having MVD> I'm scard to have any more operations (19 so far) I had a crane cable brake and dropped a machine on me and was crushed from the waist down and that pain wasn't as bad as this stuff. Accident is why I'm Wheels4legs.
anyway very best to you.
My mother had cyber knife which is different than gamma knife, as meme vets above are describing. There are no screws in Cyberknife, just a molded mask to keep your head still while the machine moves and hits the nerve with radiation basically. So she had the procedure in Germany in March 14. She was taking 7 Trileptal pills a day before treatment. We are now Jan 15, and she got off all pills but always have some residual but tolerable pain, like a nagging toothache. It seems to be increasing in intensity so she is back on 2 pills a day but says they do not work. In her cases, no two are alike, she was fine for 2 weeks post treatment then the nerve came back with a vengeance for about 10-12 days then subsided. She was able to have from pain free days and when she did have pain it would shift along her jaw line.
I am concerned that it did not “take” like we had hoped, am looking into a trial where they are tasting a nasal spray that will deaden the nerve . She is not up for doing cyber knife again due to the high cost and fear if the surge pain period. She is happy overall that she did it , though. It got her off the horrible Meds which had bad side effects. Best of luck
