Hi everyone, I have both type 1 and 2 TN on my left side. I'm on epilim and amitrip which had got the pain down to a bearable level (could still tell it was there but not enough to impact on living). About 3 times in the past 5 weeks or so I have had a migraine in my forehead on the TN side, being unilateral I would think it's the TN. Nothing touches it, codeine or morphine dumb it down enough to sleep through it. Has anyone else had this and did anything help? I'm scared as it may mean my meds aren't working as well anymore.
Hi Porcelina,
I think migraine and Tn are co- morbid for many people. I was Dx with atypical and facial migraine a few years ago .3 years before the real facial pain started. I now know this to be TN related.
My neuro doesn’t recognise the temple pain pressure and burning as TN . The pain is different to the migraines I’ve had most of my life. I don’t get photophobia or nausea with it. As I’m on the right meds ( not working well right now) I haven’t pushed for a dx.
I hope it’s not Tn but I think the Trigem nerve does seem to have some involvement with migraine. Have you tried applying the zostrix cream every couple of hours.
I hope things improve soon .
Might be a migraine group under groups tab…can you go see your doc? Sorry 1 step back for you! I know the feeling…ugggggh!
When I was on a higher dose of Effexor is gave me migraines so my Neuro put me back on topamax. I am still on Effexor but on half the amount.
I'll go see my GP and see what they say. I have no neurologist anymore as I moved cities (the one at the last hospital was an idiot anyway) ... so no doubt I'll wait for yet another neuro after my GP does a referral to them. I asked my last neuro if I could try baclofen and he said you won't find anyone willing to prescribe that! And yet working in the hospital here I have seen many neuralgia patients on baclofen. And very good pain control too ... I also asked the neuro for a referral to a pain team (made up of anaesthetists and specialist nurses) and I was denied. So hopefully the doctors here are good!
