Migranes, not quite sure?

Hi all,

I have been experiencing headaches, just headaches with about two months. Always in the temple or eyebrows. Both sides but never both at the same time. Today however it’s bad. I have pain in my temple, up into my scalp, down the side of my nose and throbbing, not anywhere near TN throbbing but it hurts! light makes it slightly worse. Very confused. I had migraines as a teen but would get the aura and vomiting. None of that now. Face has been twitching and spams for the same amount of time really, both sides and painless so didn’t put it down to TN. Today It’s the opposite side to where I get my TN . I am medication free with two months so it’s not side affects either.

Any advice or experiences with this would be lovely.
Quick side note, seen as I am Irish…
Happy St Patricks day!!

Go raibh maith agat ( many thanks)
Suzi

This sounds like ATN to me. I have a constant but moving burning headache that spreads from middle of eyebrows inward, down my nose and even on my upper cheekbones. I have had this for 5 years and have been through hell trying to help the pain. I wish I had answers for you. I just know I have tried pretty much every drug, procedure, surgery, block out there.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking it could be that but it’s not as painful as what I normally get and the opposite side. I suppose nothing about this is surprising anymore. I’m with the neurologist again in early may. He might know because my poor gp hasn’t a clue about this. He will tell me it’s stress.

Hi Suzi,

I had this every day last winter. It is so, so painful. I had a lot of migraine symptoms that came with these attacks including nausea, vertigo, light sensitivity. A lot of people that have TN do also have migraines and I think that it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. My neuro diagnosed me with migraines at that point on top of my bilateral TN but said I also have symptoms of cluster headaches.

Some people do get some relief with migraine meds like triptans. For me physio and acupuncture stopped these attacks completely. I haven't had one since. My TN also comes and goes and moves around a lot so it is impossible to know where the timing was just coincidental or not.
