I've been diagnosed with conjunctivitis due to severe dry eyes. Combination of TN (I've read this is a side effect, I have PHTN mostly in my eyes) and living in the high, dry, WINDY desert of Nevada. It gets better when I leave this climate. My opthamologist told me to use eye drops six times a day and eye gel at night, put a warm compress on my eyes and try to get the "debris" out. I tried Optiva Sensitive, which I've been using for about a year, six times a day (was previously using three) and it burned like crazy. So I switched to TheraTears and so far have been able to use a few drops in each eye four times a day, along with the nighttime TheraTear gel. But my eyes have been burning constantly since I've switched to more than three times a day. With Optiva, it helped a little and I didn't have the constant burning pain. But I was still diagnosed with severe dry eye, so I tried switching to TheraTears because the other burned at six per day. Now my eyes still burn, but not as bad. I have such nerve sensitivity in my eyes from the TN, and putting the drops in hurts! The doctor really wanted to numb my eyes and put that awful blue light in my eyes but I refused. Not after the bad side effects from the same thing two years ago. WHAT HAVE YOU GUYS USED THAT REALLY HELPED YOUR DRY EYES? DID YOU EVENTUALLY BE ABLE TO USE THAT MUCH EYE DROPS? I JUST TRIED A TOTAL OF ONE VIAL IN MY EYES AND IT REALLY BURNS!!! Maybe I may need to just stick to a few drops in each eye due to TN nerve pain? At this point I'm not sure where the TN ends and the dry eye begins. By the way, I have no white "debris" coming out at all even though she sees it when she puts a VERY BRIGHT white light in my eyes. Maybe its so much and so deep in my eyes its going to end up coming out somewhere else??? HAHAHA. Thanks guys!!!
By the way, I found a great pair of goggles at Lowes that keeps ALL the wind out, although it looks like I'm going scuba diving. Sorry I didn't keep the package it came in. At this point, I don't care how silly I look, I DON'T WANT THE WIND IN MY EYES.
