Eye burning?

I am new to this community and to TN in general. I was just diagnosed in February and I’m taking Trileptal. My pain goes from my right forehead down to my chin. I’m wondering if everyone else experiences burning in the eye (and pain behind the eye) in the midst of TN pain. I think my TN seems more like type II. Thanks.

Welcome monnie,

I personally have not, but I've seen many posts here that speak to the eye discomfort you've mentioned. Just "stand-by" ; you'll be seeing some helpful responses soon.

If that's a Pom or Corgi in that picture, "no worries/no pressure"...You'll be well taken care of! ;-)

Blessings,

Rick

Hi Monnie, My pain originated behind my left eye and eventually spread to involve all three branches of the nerve. I tried everything with no relief until the placement of a peripheral nerve stimulator in November. I have 3 wires…one above my eye, one below my eye and one running to the corner of my mouth. The top two wires work fantastic because they give me a cross coverage of the entire eye. My eye pain has decreased 90% since this placement. I am very thankful and now only deal with the pain in my teeth and nose which isn’t so well covered. They told me I could expect a overall 50% decrease in my pain and because of the relief I have for my eye I believe I have more than what I ever could have expected. This procedure was a last ditch effort for me after trying most of the others. The Neurosurgeon mapped out the wire placement with a marker right on my face so he could be sure that the wires were close enough to give me that cross coverage. He said the only reason I don’t have coverage for the second and third branch is because the tissue above the lip was too thin to thread the wire any further, so he had to pull it back…hope this helps!!

I am having that burning pain right now behind my right eye.

If I move at all it travels down, but even when I am very still it is behind my eye and even with the opiates there is no relief. The only relief is from not moving, reading, or doing anything besides being very still and drugged. LOL
