TN after Dental Implant

So I had a dental implant placed 7 months ago and its been alot of pain ever since. The oral surgeon says that the dental implant triggered TN but could not have caused it. Ive been to 3 other oral surgeons and they all say the implant looks perfect and was done well.

I was finally put on Tegretol by my neurologist and and have now gotten a break from the pain. The Tegretol is working great for me. Here is my dilemma, do I have the implant removed and risk triggering even more TN and invasive dental work to follow in the hopes that maybe once the implant is out, the TN will go away or do I leave the implant in and resign myself to the fact I have TN?

What would you do?

If you have had a total of four oral surgeons tell you there is nothing wrong with the dental implant, why would you even contemplate having it removed? Even if you think that the initial dental work triggered your TN, it isn't like removing the implant is going to make your TN go away. The only reason to remove the implant would be if you do NOT have TN and there is, in fact, something wrong with the dental work itself that's causing the pain. If that was the case, the Tegretol wouldn't be effective.

Unfortunately, sounds like dental started it off - like mine - and most here.

Do you have zaps or burning --

if you have zaps only - MVD might do the trick - I am pain free since 2011.

If you have burning, MVD won't help as much.

I didnt know that dental issues were a common way that TN starts off. I wonder if some ever have TN temporarily. Like do some have it for only a year and then is resolves? I can only hope. I dont have zaps. More of the burning type with pressure. Some times I'll even have what feels like some numbness and tingling.

Mine started after a dental procedure as well after 18 Drs basically acting baffled in a year period I finally gave up and just take my medicine and live best I can with my pain. Meditate my pain down but it’s still bothersome 24/7 .anyone who got this after dental work have any suggestions or advice?

Hi, I am also thinking about dental implant. Did you pain ever got better?

I had to have the implant removed, which took forever just to find a doctor willing to remove it. The pain is much better now.

I removed mine too, it was pulsating throbbing pain. What kind pain did you have,if you don’t mind me asking?
