Tinnitis

I have constant bilateral tinnitis & have been diagnosed with type 1 TN. Could the tinnitus be caused by the Lyrica?

Greetings Dixie,

I have had the ringing/buzzing as long as I can remember. It comes and goes in intensity getting so loud that it is almost all I can hear. I also get temporary hearing loss and so dizzy that I have to lay down and that last for about four hours. I have had the ringing/buzzing long before TN showed up but it has gotten much worse and added the hearing loss and dizziness since TN. This is mainly on my right side which is the opposite side from my TN. I don't remember any change when I was taking Lyrica, although that was during the time of my worst lightning attacks.

Scott your post is an exact replica of what I have experienced. It showed up way before the TN, when it comes it is all I can hear and it mainly comes on the opposite side of the TN, though it does occur on both sides! Weird isn't it?

Years ago I saw a Ear/Nose/Throat specialist and he told me I was just getting old and that the underwater, swishing sound and ear ringing comes with old age - at the time I was in my late 20's!!! I did not hear about Tinnitus until recently and he didn't diagnose it as such. You think he would have known, its fairly text book.

Dixie, I haven't been on Lyrica.

Elaine,

It is weird/interesting that it is on the opposite side as the TN, there is another person on this site that has the same thing. My dizziness, tinnitus and hearing loss has gotten worse after TN reared its ugly head. I can't help but think that the TN has something to do with it, but I haven't been able to figure out how yet. I hope you didn't go back to that ENT "specialist" ,it is scary what some "medical professionals" come up with. That is why we have to educate ourselves!

Hello,

I too have this; I have TN, but I also have a loud (mainly very loud!) buzzing sound, that's pulsating on my bloodstream, that never stops (Pulsatile Tinnitus it's called, Scott pointed that out to me earlier). Doc's (ENT's) can't find anything, except that it's tinnitus. It's on the same side of my TN.

And Scott, I also have these vertigo attacks, with vomiting and all, also lasting about more than three hours. They thought off Menieres, but now the prof thinks it's MAV (Migraine Associated Vertigo) wich symptoms are very much alike Menieres. I also, like you, have the buzzing for years and years but got worse when the vertigo-attacks and the TN began! The pulsating was new to me till then.

Tried out (and still trying out now) several meds against first the assumed Menieres and now the MAV.

All (Tinnitus, vertigo) got worse since TN developped.

For me it's not a coincidence that I got TN and the vertigo-attacks started off at the same time.....

Ellis.

Thanks, that is what I will do!
