but there are many cause for this "facial pain" situtation . the classic one is the one that a massive blood vessel presses the nerve. and that's the "easy" situtions -in the meaning that it can be seen in the XRAYS/MRI and can be fixed.
but there are other various situation under the term "facial pain" that are a "mystery" to the medical world so far. i mean - they don't "really' see the cause of pain - the can only suggest several guesses. maybe my theory is one of them. but it's just a maybe . i'm only guessing . i could just as easyly be wrong . i have a NEW theory every few days. *faint smille*
thanks cleo. i learn a lot from you.

Cleo !!!! GREAT ARTICLE . even if depressing in it's conclusion.
After reading part of the arcticle you sent - this paragraph really explains some of my syptoms that the doctors didn't know to explain or said i was imagining ! : (
and especially the CHANGE i saw in my left jaw.. like the "muscle loss, bone degeneration" !!!!
but how can one fix that ?
"Symptoms are related to the type of affected nerve and may be seen over a period of days, weeks, or years. Muscle weakness is the most common symptom of motor nerve damage. Other symptoms may include painful cramps and fasciculations (uncontrolled muscle twitching visible under the skin), muscle loss, bone degeneration, and changes in the skin, hair, and nails. These more general degenerative changes also can result from sensory or autonomic nerve fiber loss."

I have had a lot of dental work and trauma done to the right side of my face where I feel the type 2 pain but it has been over years span is it possible that over time from all the trauma the coating of the nerve slowly deteriorated I do remember a couple years before I had a full blown attack i was getting light sensations and my dentist said it was my gums were receding ????? I have been told no that is not possible and I have also been told it is hormonal???? Thoughts????
I have type 2 and I also have Notaligia Parethetica (burning sensation on the right side of my back). I wonder if it's all stemming from from this FIBER PERIPHERERAL NEUROPAPHY????????
i DID have an "overlong" filling !!! BUT. three things :(be glad to here what you think of it )
1. many doctors told me my root canal was a bit long. many said that. BUT - all of them said it was nothing CRITICAL - and no root canal expert told me i need to renew the root canal .
2. i DID extract the tooth - so there is no tooth . but i guess even with no tooth - the damage had been done.
3. what bothers me :
my terrible pain started just after a deep filling . the "overlong" filling was only AFTER i did a root canal. meaning - the doctor say my root canal is a bit overlong - but - the pain started before that ... when there was only a filling and not a root canal . (hope i explained myself). how can you explain that ?
otherwise - you explanation seems perfect - i also think somehow in this process some nerves got hit. thus the extreme burning sensation in gums. do you think something can be done about it .
is there ANYWAY someone can OPEN my gums to see this injusry without any evidence to the exact place in photoes ?
