Remission period?

I've had TN for six months, but no remission for me yet.

How long did everyone have TN before they experienced a remission period? And how long did the remission last? I realize everyone is different, but just curious.

The remission period can last weeks, months and even years. Each one of us is different. I am now pain fee after gamma knife done late December 2014. MVD gave me relief for 18 months and tha was disappointing as I

Thought it would be permanent relief. Good luck!

I suffered for about 6 months straight before I hit a remission I would get. A week of rief followers by a few bad days … Now I go months in between … It’s been about 7 months.but today I woke with the slight pain followed by my eye completely dropping almost totally closed and pain since 9 am … Nonspecific trigger for today’s bout

I had ATN when I was 29 for a year. It went away for seven years and came back way worse two years ago. Now I am bilateral. I am the fourth woman in my family to have it. My mom has TN and was in pain for eight years. It went away five years ago and hasn't been back.

I first got TN January 2011 and it was bad for almost two years. My age was 72. In addition I was the primary caregiver for my wife who had terminal cancer and has since passed away. My TN went into remission a year ago and I thought it was because I quit taking my statin drug. However my TN has just recently returned after being in remission for almost a year. I feel the return is due to the stress of losing my wife to cancer and dealing with the grief and loss associated with her death. Back on Neurontin (300 mg's at night) and taking supplements and exercising.

Golf Nut, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. :(

I first had ATN symptoms 20 odd years ago in my 30s. It was misdiagnosed at the time because it was numbness and (sort of) headaches that would appear for months and then disappear for months. This went on till around 8 years ago when it stopped.

It then came back as TN 3 years ago, came and went for months and has now been constant ATN for a year. That's the longest I've had it in one go and just this week it's started to affect both sides of my mouth which does not fill me with glee!!!!

If we are talking about significant pain, I've had episodes up to 6 months and remissions up to a couple of years.

I’ve wondered the same thing. I have type 2 and I’ve had pain everyday for the past 8 months. When will this remission period start?! I’m so ready for it.
