Hey. I have typical TN on the right side that started in 2010. I had severe pain for a couple of months and then the pain gradually got better until I went into complete remission. I had not pain at all until Feb of this year. So all in all, my remission last right about a year. Since Feb I have had pain but no where near as severe as it was the first time. I am on Lamictal which obviously helps wonderfully. My question that I have is this: IF and when I go in to remission again, do you think that it could last more than the year that I was in the first time or less than a year like most people say happens. Just wondering if anyone has had a short remission and then a longer remission the next time.
I am so sorry to say from being on here for two years… You will get 50 different answers if people jumped on your thread to help…I have seen everything from 3days to ten years…everything between…short …long…long…short…or no remission
Thanks for your reply KC dancer. It's good to know that you have experienced different lengths of your remissions. From the researching I have done, it seems like the remissions you have get shorter and shorter. This depresses me in a way b/c I am so grateful for having the year of no pain but it's sad to think if I go into another remission that it may be shorter than a year.
I personally think ANYTHING is possible!
I really do, so if I were you I would put all my energy and thoughts into thinking you CAN and WILL have a longer remission next time! : )
My right side remission was 8 years, my left side 10 years!
My right side is controlled with Tegretol, my left side got worse and worse and I just had mvd a month ago.
TN can come back after mvd, I CHOOSE to believe it won’t, and if it does it will be minimal.
If it doesn’t all work out the way I’m choosing to believe, well then I’ll deal with it then.
I’m not unrealistic, I know what I read, the odds aren’t great, but again I’m choosing otherwise!
Hopefully the power of positive thought will reap us both positive outcomes!
