Dear friends,
On Friday August 19th, at 2-4 PM Eastern Daylight Time I will
moderate a free real-time audio chat for patients and family members who
deal with or support others who have chronic neurological face pain or
related medical issues (Typical or Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia,
Anesthesia Dolorosa, TMJ Disorder, Eagle Syndrome, Facial neuropathic
pain, traumatic facial injury, other face pain of undetermined origins).
I will address any question in this general domain, including causes of
face pain, co-morbidities, diagnosis, treatment, impact on family and
social relationships, etc. The experience of other participants is also
invited.
The venue for this interaction will be http://www.livesupportgroup.com/
To participate, you will need to go to the site and register an email
address by Wednesday evening August 17th. You will receive advance
invitations to participate in this session and others held regularly on
many chronic pain issues. You may opt out at any time. Your identity
will be protected and your address data will never be shared with third
parties. Advance registration allows discussion oversight to ensure that
no individual dominates the exchange and all participants are greeted
with respect and support.
I am the spouse of a chronic face pain patient. I come to this session
with a 20-year history of personal study and thousands of patient
interactions in multiple online forums including the US TN Association,
Living With TN (in the Ben’s Friends group), About.com,
WebMD, and others. Although I am not a medical professional, I wrote
and coordinated validation of the most recent TN Fact Sheet at US NINDS,
and edited most of the Wikipedia article on Atypical TN. I have also
written widely as a patient advocate and critic of mainstream
psychiatry, on issues attending the misapplication of so-called
psychosomatic medicine to chronic pain patients.
All are welcome.
Regards, Red Lawhern
