Hello,
I am new to this group and my first main question is this: does anyone seem to have attacks come on after working out? I’m a very active person and, in addition to having attacks after eating and with thunderstorms and other things I have yet to figure out, it is starting to seem that after I workout I have an attack about a half hour later. I play soccer and really really don’t want to have to quit because of this.
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem? Or if maybe it’s just been coincidental a couple of times (which I what I’m hoping).
My pain meds don’t seem to be helping at all anymore so I can’t just workout and then take a pill.
If I do strenuous work the numbness in my face does intensify and if I strain to much it can cause an attack but it is usually right away, I think it might have something to do with the bp going up and expanding the blood vessels, That is just my thought and I am not a doctor or have discussed this with one. good luck,
Hi Brittni
My NS told me increased blood flow could increase pain. He also recommended avoiding getting too hot, as this could also intensify pain levels.

Yes! I take belly & flamenco dance lessons and would get flare ups either right after or next day. Neurologist suggested I take extra dose of Tegretol 1hr before any strenuous activity.
It could be the wind or even a breeze can trigger . I have TN1 and being outside is really hard that's a big thing for me. I have to be dodging the air conditioning vents and open windows.
It bothers me to even walk on a track. I have been trying to do it anyway but I am beginning to think it is not worth it. I am trying taking medicine before I go as I do it very early in morning. Think it helps some. This disease is life changing. Any kind of activity, cleaning, shopping etc. triggers me. I feel best lying in a dark place with no sound and no talking. I can't live like that, so I take meds and push on.
I've noticed people saying they take something before or after the workout. If you don't mind me asking, what do you take? The only thing I have is Carbamazepine and Baclofen. Oh, and some worthless pain pills.
I too have the pain when I try to workout or shop or walk in the yard or clean, basically most physical activities bring on the pain. I am just learning what some of the triggers are with me and there are so many! I feel better sitting with no sound or light. Sometimes I can take an extremely large dose of ibuprofen (prescription strength) and it will help briefly because it reduces the swelling and a dose of carbamazepine but these are becoming less effective. They keep increasing my meds and it works briefly but my body adjusts and I have pain again. I wish I could give you advice or hope but all I can say is you are not alone.
