Preauricular Lymph Node

Hi everyone,

This discussion is to help me pursue this with my doctor. The doctor that diagnosed me is internal medicine and wants me to see a neurologist. I'm sure I will but I'm uninsured at the moment so I'm going to see her again. When I first went to her and told her about the burning in my gums, tongue and the achy jaw I told her about this lymph node I have and asked her specifically if that could be causing nerve pain. She wasn't sure and didn't really seem interested in finding out. This was a couple visits before she finally diagnosed the TN. My TN has gotten much worse over the last few months. I've had the lymph node for about 3-4 years. It is hard and fixed. I had an MRI done on it in 2011. It is a benign Preauricular lymph node. It sits on my jaw and has not changed much over the years. My TN is on the right side with this lymph node. If you look up where this node is in comparison to the trigeminal branch that runs down in front of the ear you'll see that they are pretty much in the same place. My oral surgeon doesn't think they are related. I don't know how they could not be. I'm going to go back to my doctor to discuss the node being the culprit and I am wondering if anyone here has this or knows anything about this? I have attached a photo of where this lymph node is, mine sits a little lower than the one in the picture but you'll get the idea. If the picture doesn't upload you can just google images for preauricular lymph nodes. I don't think I need to attach a photo of the trigeminal nerve, I assume most of you now what it looks like and where the branches are. Any information or opinions would be appreciated. I can't imagine that with the placement of everything that these could be unrelated but who knows. Please let me know what you think. I think I could and would pursue surgery if this is the cause.

Thanks!!
