had my mvd on 27th dec was just wondering how long the sickness and headaches will last for, i am pleased with how the operation went came home on new years eve still with face pain but by the day after new years day the pain was gone and had none since so if anyone whos had a mvd can help please help thanks
Hi Phil, I had my 2nd MVD in Nov and the headaches lasted for approx 4/5 weeks after surgery although they did lesson day by day. I do still get some headaches now and severe pain in my right eye which is strange as the MVD was on the left this time. As for the sickness I got some anti-sickness tablets from my GP which really helped so I would really recommend asking for some!

thanks for that mandy, already got some sickness tablets, havent seen my neuro for follow up yet so wasnt sure, they probebly told me when i was in hospital but you forget everything when u walk out dont you(well i do anyway) how come you had 2 mvds didnt the first work? or was it both sides? hope it worked for you
Hi Phil, unfortunately I have bilateral TN, had my first MVD Oct 13 but still get a lot of pain on that side so NS was going to repeat MVD on right side so long as all went well this time! I’ve not received a follow up appointment as yet but last time my follow up appointment was 5 mths later!!! Unfortunately this time my head on the left side has been left painfully numb to the point that it hurts to wash my hair, brush my hair and lye down on that side so my guess is that the NS won’t repeat the right side. Also I’m still getting pain on my left side and I’ve now got 2 pressure points that I can’t touch so I’ve no idea what’s going on, I guess I’m still hoping that things are still settling down and that the pain will go away eventually!!!
Following my discharge I had to rely on my husband as to what I was what said as I didn’t have a clue ha ha so I know what you mean, I think they should write things down for us as all those meds and anaesthetic just melts the brain lol!
