Poor level of Care in my health care

I want to post on here just to complain to folks who will understand. I have had TN for about 5 years brief periods of remission with shift from Type 1 to Type 2. I asked my PCP to send a referral for a neurologist. The neurologist initially refused my referral but asked my PCP for more notes on my case so they could get me to the best doc for TN. They made the request over a month ago and I just found out it has been with my PCP all that time. I called my PCP to find out what was going on and why it wasn't done.

Well, not only did I not get an answer but I got attitude from this woman. Listen you <expletives inserted here> I'm in pain, all I want is for you to do your job and fax a document to another office. The correct response is "I'm so sorry sir. I will look into this and get back to you with a resolution as soon as I can." How hard is that? This battle is hard enough just fighting our bodies without having to deal with people like you.

I'm firing my PCP after 14 years and am finding someone whop cares about my health and whose office can manage just a little empathy when speaking with you.

Thanks for letting my complain. I hope the rest of you have better luck.

The average TN patient sees six practitioners before receiving an accurate diagnosis, Rick. You regrettably have plenty of company among patients who probably know more of their own disorder than the doctors who supposedly serve them. My recommendation would be to look up your doctor on one or more of the doctor rating sites on the Net, and leave an honest appraisal of his office's malfeasance and poor attitude ion the evaluation. And a letter to each of the hospitals where he is accredited would also not be out of order. Medical professionals get away with sloppy practice because they are permitted to do so without challenge or consequence. You are articulate enough to help turn that around.

Regards, Red

Poor service and a bad attitude is just not good enough.
If I feel that a service provider has let me down I always tell them- " excuse me, I already have a job of my own, I am sick of doing yours too".

Thanks Red and Jackie.

Jackie I LOVE that response. Sounds like something I would say.

go rickkkk, go rickkk*chanting*, see how rude they are with no customers to talk to, morons -_-. You deserve the best health care affordable, im glad you realise it. Sometimes we TN patients are so afraid to speak up to the doctors as they make us feel small by silly comments they make. Unfortunately people on a power trip can be found in all industries. I hope the next doctor is a gem :)

Wish I could "like " the bit about no customers. Does make you wonder how they get away with it and still earn a very healthy wedge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW – glad to see somebody advocating for their rights! Human Rights!

When you get a neurologist - Bonus if you find one that has TN patients - ask till you find one!

I think health care providers should have to take a yearly course on patient/doctor relations, including having to sit and listen to someone talk to them they way they talk to patients!
