New to forum

I was diagnosed with TN in 2010. Since that day my life seems to have went downhill.

My depression and anxiety has gotten much worse to the point I don't go out of the house anymore then absolutely necessary.

About three weeks ago I had to make a very tough decision and have my haircut off (its an inch long) after brushing my hair started causing pain...*sighs*

Just having a real hard time, looking for some encouragement I guess....

Kia, do you have local people that you can talk with in person? And do your family understand what you are going through? Are you being treated for depression as well as pain?

Kia, If you look at my profile pic, my hair is short too. I had to give up on the long hair cuz the weight is just too much to bear. My scalp hurts!! Hopefully in time, with good pain control...you can grow it out again. I wish you good luck.

Peace, Min

I am so sorry. I am newly diagnosed and learning how to cope with this new lifestyle. It is hard to keep positive. I am struggling greatly right now. So far I have been able to keep my longer hair. I have been trying to grow it out for awhile now. But I think it is going to have to go at some point because I can't keep it away from my cheek during an attack.

Wishing you luck!

Hi Kia. I’m a “newbie” to this website as well, a couple of weeks. All I can say is you have come to a great place. You can ask anything you want and you don’t get the “we already said that” line. It seems as if there is always someone who has been there, done that willing to lend their support. If the answer is not known then good suggestions are made. There are different sections for different things. You can join those groups as well. Mostly this site is great just for a big ole gripe party. Welcome!

Kia, your short hair looks nice it suits you. xx

Hello Kia

Sorry to hear about your depression and anxiety that you are having with your TN just now. Unfortunately they do go hand in hand with TN. For any one to lose a lot of hair is quite devastating. I think it does quite suit you. But it must have been a very hard choice. I don't know how to encourage you to feel better. But at least you have lots of new friends here on this site would you care about you. Hopefully you will get some better pain relief in the near future and then life will become easier. I hope it happens soon! All the best, Jackie
