I have been on Neurontin - 2800mg. I had a cleaning done last week and now the Neurontin doesn't seem to be working at all. Should I back off the Neurontin and see if it's even working or should I call my neuro and ask for the trilepitol script to go along with. I'm not too bad, but the shocks are pretty much constant and when I'm not being shocked its a constant pain.
Second question: advice on dental cleanings. Pain is much worse post cleaning (which was very gentle) What have any of you done for cleanings and does it cause more pain for you?
I would ask your neurologist if it persists. Maybe he can give you something for breakthrough pain. One point of interest…I happened upon a drug called Meloxicam…I was taking it after a car accident as an anti inflammatory for back pain. Well when I would floss my teeth it wouldn’t HURT!! Normally it is real painful. I still use it from time to time. For flossing my teeth. Very unusual I know. But it works. Your pain I know is worse right now. I’d call in & see if your doc will help you out!! Oh and Haven’t been to the dentist in a couple of years. …ever since I became bi-lateral ear/jaw pain…from having dental work done…soooooo…I need to go back now and have a tooth worked on. Will probly have to go under and have extra meds…otherwise things could be ugly…and yes I am scared…and no I don’t want to go…but I need to get the tooth fixed/capped.
Thanks Min. My neuro is pretty much letting me dose myself, but has said if it gets worse he would call in trilepitol (sp) to be taken with the Neurontin. I'm already a zombie though and don't want to take extra meds. I am handling the pain decently enough but was wondering what would happen when I backed off to see if it made a difference. I have been doing this today and so far there is no difference in pain level between 2800mg and 1600mg. I don't think the Neurontin is doing anything for me right now.
Has anyone else had positive experience with the Meloxicam? I would be very open to talking with doc about it!
I am taking 1200 of Neurontin and 600 trileptal right now cuz Im trying to wean off of it. BUT I might not be able to…lol. we’ll see but it’s not too bad…I know you are on a higher dose but…there are many people who take them together. …maybe just a little boost of trileptal. .would help??? But I know how you feel about taking all these darn meds---- I feel ya…
Now I Found out today I’m gonna have to take something to lower my cholesterol…always something… but hang in there…
keep trying different things… I’ve been using heat treatments. Im going to get a heat lamp for the winter.
