I am wondering if anyone has tried anything that numbs gums. I have tooth area pain and when I touch my gums in the back above molars (where impacted wisdom tooth was extracted 4 years ago) I get nerve shocks in my teeth/jaw. I had MVD at the end of November but still have pain above molars and I was curious if there is anything that can numb this area, maybe something for toothaches or teething? Just something I was thinking about today and thought I would through it out there. Thanks!
Interesting thought. Maybe get some oragel and try it???
I use a "magic mouthwash" prescribed by my pain management doctor. It's a combo of lidocaine, diphenhydramine, maalox, and nystatin. It numbs my entire mouth really well for a short time. I wish it lasted longer, but sometimes any little bit of relief from the breakthrough pain is well worth it.
for the years before i got a real diagnosis, i lived on orabase and benzodent. (same thing, different brand names) It's really thick paste for dental pain. the benzodent says it's for braces pain and whatnot, but it helped a lot. doesn't last a long time, but it helps.
The magic mouthwash that Gin mentioned is even better if you can get it. You can make it yourself at home. Granted your at home version isn't going to be as strong as the prescription version, but again, in a pinch it'll help. If you do a search for it online, you'll find the homemade recipe. I've made it before and it does wonders.
Hoping you find relief.

Thank you so much, I am going to check into it!
