I am now post status MVD surgery. I had the surgery performed in Pittsburgh this past Tuesday and so far so good. I feel pretty awful at the moment, but that is to be expected during recovery. The incision hurts, but everything around it, inlcuding my ear is numb. My hearing is fine due to the fact they monitor it very closely during surgery.
I'm unsteady on my feet, have heartburn really bad (most likely from meds), still have a horrible head ache, feel like I was beat up on my right side (from laying on the OR table), and have an overall feeling like the flu.
Despite the current side effects from surgery and meds, I am so excited to get through the recovery phase and move on to living pain free. Crossing my fingers!
Monday I see Dr. Wilberger again, and hopefully then we can drive back home to Indiana.
Thank you. It’s been a week now and I am feeling a little better each day. I am still on pain meds, neurotin, and nausea meds so that is helping as well.
Last week I was feeling pretty good and was able to decorate the tree and clean the house.
This week I have been feeling horrible again. I slept all this week from Monday on to today, only getting up to eat and bathe.
Since last night my incision really hurts and my ear feels like it's on fire. I have not been in this much pain since right after my surgery. I called the office and they are out until Monday. I'm just wondering if I should maybe go to urgent care to make sure I don't have an infection. It looks a little red, but I can't tell.
Do you have your surgeon's email address? You could take a picture of it and send it to him. If you're that worried, Urgent Care is a good idea. Better to be safe than sorry.
