Has anybody been able to get any insight or even relief / help from this type of Dr? Thanx
When you've been advised by a general dentist that your face pain may be due to a dental issue, a Maxillofascial surgeon may be able to resolve uncertainties in the diagnosis. They are more deeply trained than general dentists. I've talked with a few patients over the years who have been diagnosed with TN by such a specialist, which was missed even by an ENT before.
Regards,
No dentist ever told me to go. The neurosurgeon I saw wanted me to go but I never did. I made an apointment today though. He in no way thought it was related to my teeth but since my pain is only inside my mouth he wanted me to see if there was any kind of injections they could do. I guess I want another opinion too ( like 15 wasn’t enough) lol
The journey never ends…
ANY injection anyone decides to do is purely going to be symptomatic relief and not address the problem.
I do appreciate pain management is important, but it will never be the answer. One spends their bucks, sorry to be blunt.
That’s what the Dr said not me. And when you have “the suicide disease” one day of relief is a dream. Over 10 doctors have told me you and all other suffers for that matter will probably never know why or what’s causing it. So you MANAGE your pain. There is no CURE
I have seen two. They’re not the best doctors for this. They are prone to cutting things open just to take a look and extracting random teeth. The ones I’ve seen had no experience in managing neuropathic pain.
I saw one the other day and I had enough knowledge( from this site!) to prevent him from injecting me with lidocaine to see “if this is where the problem lies.” He was not best please but I instinctively knew that more damage may be caused if I allowed the injections. You get a sixth sense with this illness. That is not to say he was good in correcting my bite and ruling out that this was not causing pain.So if you do see one my advice would be go carefully.Best wishes!
