Lyrica questions

I did a search on Lyrica posts here and didn't exactly find what I was looking for so I thought I might ask anyone that has been or is on Lyrica or anyone that knows anything about Lyrica.

Before Lyrica I peed all of the time. Now I usually go in the morning when I wake up and before I shower in the morning then it is normally about 6 hours before I go again. After that it's between 4 and 6 hours and then before bed. These last 2 times I just remember I haven't gone and feel like I should. I am still drinking what I would normally drink. I do have some swelling in my feet and a little in my hands, but nothing that is pitting.

I did research it online, but really didn't find much...it says it is an uncommon side effect. I guess I just wonder if that is normal or if I should be concered. I don't go to the dr until the 30th. (at least I hope I do...my insurance inadvertently canceled my insurance so I currently have no insurance. They say they will reinstate it, but can't tell me when. It's already been a week. So frustrating...)

Thanks to anyone that responds. I appreciate each and every one of you!!

I just tried titrating up on Lyrica for my Type 2 TN and had to go off it because of the side effects, one of which was edema. I didn’t notice it at first (which you seem to be doing) but all of a sudden I couldn’t get my shoes on and my legs were really swollen, I couldn’t sleep, and I ached all over. I really wanted it to help with the pain because nothing else was working but I became more and more miserable from the side effects. I hope this isn’t what is going on with you. It really helps some people.

I had issues for about 3-4wks when I first started Lyrica mainly with sleepiness, edema, dry mouth, etc. can't say that your issue is one i shared. I have almost no side effects now and Ive been on it for about 4 yrs. blessings~~

Hi there,

I also used to pee often before I was put on Lyrica. I never asked my doctor why is it that I didn't feel the same urge to pee on the medication, but I thought about it and noticed the following. I became generally "slow" on Lyrica. I noticed that when I hurt myself or bumped into something it took me longer to get the physical but also mental reaction than before. My bowel movement changed too (I didn't go as often as before even though I didn't change my diet). I acutally did mention that to my therapist and she thought I felt slow because I was depressed and apparently depressed people are not so alert as not-depressed people. True is, that when I added antidepressants to the Lyrica some of these physical patterns went back to what was normal for me before TN and Lyrica (my bowel movement and peeing), some remained the same, like slowish reaction to pain.

Take care,

Oldriska

OK - slowish reaction = I felt drunk! So much so that I had to quit my job - part of which was driving kids around!

I would call pharmacist about any side effects you ever feel on any med because waiting for the doctor can take so long -

My dr. knows that I still have kids at home and try to lead an active life. My husband, dr & I worked out the best schedule is for me to take my meds all at one time, 4pm. That gives me the max effect with the least amount of "down" time when I want to be awake. While it wipes me out by about 5:30 and I do not drive any place and try and not plan evening events where I have to engage others, it's tough, but it works for us. It allows me to be able to drive the kids to school in the mornings without that drunk feeling, when I wouldn't be able to. hth. blessings~~
