Has anyone had a liquid diet for TN? I need some ideas on what to drink or very soft foods...ideally foods that kind of dissolve would be good since chewing is a trigger for my TN.
Sending everyone prayers and hope for healing!

My mother is on a permanent liquid diet. Adding "ensure" or a similar nutritional drink is important to be sure you are getting sufficient calories and vitamins.
She makes a lot of homemade soups. She purees them with a blender or bullet and extra milk or stock to thin out the consistency. Homemade rice pudding is something else that she eats a lot of. Potatoes mashed to a creamy consistency with milk or cream.
Can you get lidocaine mouthwash prescription to make the pain on hold so you can eat?
Yoghurt. Or yogurt for those of you in the U.S.!
I do Boost, Tomato soup, pudding sometimes when I can handle a spoon and the same with yogurt, Carnation instant breakfast, mashed potatoes, you can put a lot in the blender too... we have had success with spaghetti. Fish is easy to eat because it doesn't require chewing if it is baked or grilled and also waffles if you cook them really light and cut them up really really small and cover them in syrup don't require chewing. I also do a lot of the baby food fruits and veggies. I can't bring myself to eat the meat ones though. Just make sure you are getting enough vitamins and protein,
Michelle
I also find I'm OK with really mushy muesli mixed with yoghurt and I turn the spoon upside down and kind of wipebit onto my toungue.
I had to go on a purely liquid diet for 8 days. I started making my own fruit smoothies and really learned to like my Cuisinart Hand Blender because it was so easy to clean. You can put milk, yogurt protein powder in with the fruit. There is many fantastic recipes just Google "fruit smoothie" and pick ones you like the ingredients. I really learn to mix up my own and when the pain receded I was able to share the recipes with my Husband who actually requested them. Yum! You will learn to make some really yummy ones I promise. Also another tip is just to blend a soup you like. I left a a few little chunks like in cream of corn. I used a big straw since I could not use a spoon.
Actually not being able to brush my teeth well, was worse than going to a liquid diet from my perspective. Really these smoothies are quite good and get your self a hand blender if you do not have one. By two cents worth!! Good luck and hope you can come back to solid food soon. Sending peace and well being. Tina
Good advice Tina! You can also add powdered protein to the mix which will fill you up and get you the protein you need.Good luck,i've been there and it's hard.

When i've had to....i stuck to stuff like cottage cheese and tuna fish. Both can just be swallowed. I also really fell in love with chicken broth and bread and/or crackers left to soak. (sounds not so yummy i guess...but when you're hungry it's great! lol)
And as mentioned, i mashed and/or pureed just about everything. I really liked pureed carrots! (although, the baby food idea sounds great...wish i'd thought of that.)
And i agree with the not being able to brush my teeth. That is maybe one of the worse things about this condition ..other than the pain and all. There are days i long for a good long brushing.....
Hope you find something yummy that works for you,

The Norwegian kitchen traditionally includes porridge as one of the staple foods, probably since it is cold large parts of the year and we only have 2,5% arable land. Somehow, adults in the rest of Europe never eat other porridge than oats, and evidently only for breakfast.
You can boil (simmer while constantly stirring) any flour (wheat, rye, barley traditionally) with milk, water or milk substitutes, plus a little salt, for about 10 minutes. Use a whisk and get all the lumps out in the beginning. It will thicken quite abruptly, and the milk burns really easily, so stay by the stove.
Think of it as a very thick, white sauce, but adjust the thickness to your liking. We eat it with butter in the middle, and sugar and cinnamon, or with milk and jam, sometimes with dulce de leche. For those who chew, serve some cured meats on the side. You can also eat it just plain, or mix (dried) fruits in it. Leftovers can be made into small pancakes. It is of course a little devoid of vit C and other fruit/veg-goodies, but the flour provides both protein and carbs, and the milk, too.
If you wonder about it, do a web-search for “grøt” - I am sure there will be numerous english posts on it.
