Just for vanity's sake

I know that sometimes when the pain is bad I can’t put on makeup or do much of anything. I’ve never considered myself to be really vain, but I’ve discovered that I’m so uncomfortable when people drop by to check on me and I look like a mess. So, I had my eyeliner and lipstick tattooed on. I figured that if I’m already in pain, what the heck. It hurt for a day or two. But, luckily I had meds for that. I love it. If you think you can handle the pain, and you’re vain, like me… =)

Robyn,

What an idea! Luckily so far I have been able to apply eye makeup since my bad pain isn’t in my eye area, very minor eye pain. I don’t know what I would do without eyeliner. Before MVD I used the powder foundation applied with a brush. But I couldn’t apply lipstick before MVD. I just didn’t use any. I didn’t like that but I didn’t have a choice. I’m not sure I could take the pain of a tattoo. I’m still a nervous wreck going to get my teeth cleaned. But I can brush my teeth without pain now. I am so thankful for that.

I use powder makeup too (bare minerals). I’m having pain in my gum area now. It’s strange. My teeth aren’t hurting too
badly, but my gums are. The oral surgeon perscribed a mouth wash for me that kills bacteria. Sometimes I can use it and sometimes It hurts. I’m glad I got the permanent makeup and would fo it again. If I’m going to hurt, I want to look good while I’m hurting. ( at least the part of my face one can see, since I usually walk around with my hand covering my right side)

Hi Robyn, you mentioned about your gums hurting, I’ve had that problem a lot and the best thing that I’ve tried is using ‘Sensodyne’ toothpaste, sometimes I rub it onto my teeth and gums neat with my finger (not sure if you can get this brand where you live, if not there will be an alternative), I hope that this may be able to help you.

Ouchie! I would love to do my eyelids but I can’t imagine the pain on the lips!! How long did the eyelids take and how expensive was it? Good for you for doing something good and risky for yourself to feel better:)

They all seem like good ideas! The toothbrushing part, my doc (one of them) recommended using hydrogen peroxide. Swishing and the other part hurt too, it beat brushing though. After 3 1/2 years I had the nerve to go to my dentist…look ma, 1 cavity. Teeth are whiter too. It’s not vanity Robyn as Sabina said, if you feel better. In the long run, the pain is worth the pleasure. I’ve never been into tatoos, then I look about my head. The surgeries for TN have left permanent ones. I’ve never needed makeup. My eyelashes are the envy of many! bob

Hmmm…I might try the hydrogen peroxide too Bob. How long do you swish?

My eyelids took about an hour and cost around 180. The pain wasn’t too bad.

I might try the hydrogen peroxide too. I do use sensodyne toothpaste. My pain
just depends on the day.

I try to gargle and at least hold it for several minutes. You only need 1 - 2 tablespoons. Anymore and you may have a gag reflex, the pain WOULD BE!!! It may burn but that is the cleansing effect. Also, I’m not a doctor. bob
