Remission

Hi,

I am fairly new to the site and wanted to ask if your TN has ever gone into remission? I have not had any pain but I have been feeling a tug feeling on my cheek bone. Is this still TN?

I think I need to take back my questions. I put on make up and the pain said hello.

I love eyeshadow. I don’t want to give it up.

I’m the same when it comes to make up

Thanks for the advice. I will be giving it a try.

what i do is the night before, put lotion over them…
like putting lotion on your hands and then lightly rub your eyes. it helps a lil because the meds made them stiff. I used to have very long, thick eyelashes. I did the trial and error.

this seemed to help the most. but if u forget to do it one night, it will give that same problem

won’t hurt to try ~

Hi Catena,
I was diadnosed in 2008 and have yet to have a remission.

I also find putting make-up on a major problem, and now only tend to bother when its a special occasion. Wish toothbrushing could be left for special occasions too but alas not!

Do you go to the dentist yearly? I’m afraid.

The dentist, for me, is no longer a good experience (not that it ever was a great experience :-). I still go 2x a year because on my hubby’s insurance, we are required to go that often. I can’t get my teeth cleaned with the normal “sandblasting.” I do wear a mouthpiece so I get it checked when I go. I am so fortunate to even have dental insurance.

As for make-up. I am a diva and in my 20’s and 30’s I NEVER went anywhere without make-up. Now I only wear it when I perform. I have solved my problem with a big dark pair of sunglasses (which helps the eye sensitivity) and a great shade of lipstick!!

When I don’t have pain, I have “tugs.” These “tugs” morph into facial spasms when I relax my face.

Best wishes as you work through this, Catena

I have a great relationship with my dentist. He diagnosed me with TN and I hold no grudges despite him extracting a perfectly healthy wisdom tooth in the weeks before diagnosis. Before me he had only had an elderly patient with TN and he is always very interested in how I’m getting on.

I’ve had a few occasions when I think I have toothache and I rush off to see him and he’ll give my teeth a quick look and say its just the TN acting up. He never charges me for this.

Luckily I haven’t had any major tooth problems since my diagnosis but I have been told that he will arrange any sedation neccessary to get me through the treatment if I am having a tough time with the TN.

It might be worth making an appointment with your dentist and discussing your needs with them. Then if you ever need emergency treatment a care plan would already be in place.

I hope you have a good weekend. X x

Thnx Melodye. I was thinking of buying the self cleaning tools from walmart but I’m not sure if it’s safe.

Hi Catena,
Looks like your question has already been answered. Yes the tugs may be the TN. And I had to use the powder foundation used with a brush for a long time. And it is possible to have remission. I’m not sure I ever had total remission but I had very little pain with medication for a long time. If I stopped the medication then the pain returned. I had my teeth cleaned on Wednesday ans was so scared but I loaded up on extra medicine and did okay. I need a crown on my TN side and made an appointment but I can’t imagine how I will get through that.

Hi Liz
I’m curious and need to be prepared. Did you have your crown done and how did it go? What did your dentist do in preparation for this “event”…and what did you do?? I think that’s something we all worry about.
