Is my TN progressing?

Happy New Year to you all! I am a bit worried tonight. I have suffering with ATN (supraorbital region...forehead) for the past 3.5 years. Just a few days ago I noticed an ache in my back molar region on one side. At first I thought cavity, but when I touch the area, the bony part underneath the inside of my molar is really sensitive and sore. I actually have dental tori (large boney structures that line my mouth...common, I hear), and it is the here that the pain is the worst. In fact when I rub it, the pain radiates down my bottom, inside gum line. I am freaking out now that it is not a cavity, but a progression of the TN. To those of you who have ATN (no shocks) in your mouth, what does the pain feel like? My dentist is gone until after the new year, but I just wanted to hear your thoughts. Thanks for listening. Be safe out there tonight!

I understand your fear of the TN ‘spreading’ and have new trigger spots. I guess we will always have this fear. It is hard to not let the fear control us isn’t it. I hope you can find peace and strength to continue the battle. I wish you many pain free days in 2015.

UI kind of know what you mean. I have ATN with periods of TN complete with shocks etc, etc. I have aching but my biggest problem is really deep numbness ( think injection at dentist ) mostly in the roof of my mouth tongue and lips, all on the right side. Every now and then, if I'm being honest, it spreads across to the left side as well and gives me the sensitive tooth from Hell! I worry myself sick that it's spreading too!Do just normal pain killers make af dent in the pain? If it does you'd probably think a tooth problem.

Please let me know how you get on.

hi.For me,my gums can hurt, and burn, and ache.My back top molar 'appears' to be the issue as i always think, but thankfully no infection,as i get it chekced. What i do have there is a pocket that collects bacteria,i clean it alot. Sometimes it feels like my gums throb, and i have numbness, sometimes on my palette, sometimes my right side tongue, and my gums can feel kind of numby too. Now and again i do have little shocks thru the two front teeth, and occassionally other teeth. I have used neat clove oil on my gums, its absolutly ghastly, but its relief.I also use bonjela, the baby teething version seems best for me.I rub it on my gums, and my gums are numb and dont feel painful. It contains lidocaine, which peeps on here do suggest to. Sleeping helps me,as it does others.I will try anything to rid me of this curse

I've had ATN for going on 3 years and my symptoms are very similar to what Barbara described. Upper gums burning, aching and throbbing and a numb feeling, sometimes the right side of my tongue is also affected. I get shocks through some teeth too. It moves around, no two days are the same. It could easily be mistaken for severe toothache, when it started in 2012 I went to the dentist many times and they could never figure it out.

Hope things improve for you soon:)

Just got back from the dentist. Not good news. There is no abscess or evident problem with my tooth. I just cried. I had a cavity filled a few months ago in the main molar experiencing the pain. He shaved some off of my bite, hoping that the pain is from a heavy bite due to the dental work. I remain hopeful that the pain will resolve, but mentally trying to wrap my head around the fact that I may have to cope with additional ATN pain. Thanks for all of your concern.
