I will add that my eye doc tells me to take 4000 mg of Flaxseed oil. Nevenac eye drops once or twice a day for eye pain. I also use Restasis. At one time I also used a double strength Restasis type drop and a drop that has a small amount of hormone in it. I have a plug in one lower lid and had the duct cauterized closed when the plug would not stay in. I also use Systane and Refresh re-wetting drops as well as a lubricant drop made by the same company that makes Restasis. My eyes still get quite dry but no longer to the point that my upper eyelid sticks to my eyeball. I take cymbalta as an adjunct for my ATN. I have read that it can cause dry eye symptoms. I agree with Silver Lily; close your eyes and move your eyeballs around after adding the drops. I am not good abt remembering this step. I know it makes a difference for me when I do remember to take the time to close my eyes. Silver Lily also mentioned Oasis. That is a really good one too. There are ointments (which are very annoying) that are very helpful too. The ones I have tried are Rx. The irritation caused by the dry eye causes major irritation to my ATN. I plan to go back to my eye doc soon and ask for the stronger version of Restasis. Last time I saw the eye doc he told me to use warm compresses to help release oils. LOL I did it once. I told him that my face would not tolerate it but I still gave it a try. And it didn't. I have also read about people using glasses or goggles to help keep in moisture. Lol, if my face would tolerate glasses I would wear them in order to see better. One can also get plugs in the upper tear ducts. I hope my rambling helps. Marlaine
And another thing. Be very aware of your environment. Does the fan in your computer blow air towards your face? My son redirected the the fan in my computer. That has been a big help. Don't sit under or near a ceiling fan, table fan, A.C. or heat vent. I think you get the idea.
