I recently went to see a TN specialist that my neurologist referred me to. She suggested that I have glycerol injections. Had anybody had these injections and if so what are there experiences.
Hi Jason
Yes I have had one of these injections. It lasted a few months for me but was good to be painfree for that amount of time. You will find you have bad brusing on your face so get some arnica cream for that.
Hope it is a good success for you.
Clare
Thanks Clare.I am just a little worried that they can inject you as many times as you want, surely it must do some damage to you. I know that if it is really needed you will do anything to stop the pain. I can cope with the pain at the moment, especially seeing as though it is getting warmer. I am just dreading when it gets cold again.
I have often wondered how much damage can be done. I was only ever offered one injection. I have had two MVDs, the first didn't work at all and the second lasted a few months. last week I had gamma knife treatment, then yesterday I had a major tn attack. I'm hoping this is just a minor setback.
If you are feeling reasonable at the moment then you could put off the injection until later in the year. I know what you mean about the cold weather! I assume you are on some meds at the moment. If they are working for you then great.
Hoping you have a good summer.
Clare
Fingers crossed it is only a minor setback. They have told me I can have as many injections as I want and they will see me pretty quick if I ha e a major attack. I seen my neurologist the other day and he told me I should have the injections if I start having attacks again
