Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia & migraines - is there a relationship?

I was diagnosed with GPN by my neuro on Friday. I have been dealing with this ear pain for 7 months now, trying to figure out what it is and how to resolve it...and finally got a definitive answer for what's causing the pain. Makes me feel a little better to know it's not all in my head (no pun intended).

I also have suffered from migraines for years and they originate on the same side of my head - on the back of my left side of my head.

What I'm wondering is: is there any relationship between TN/GPN and migraines??

I too have the same pain patterns as you. Not sure if that gives any definitive answer, but I can tell you that I relate to the pain correlation. I did read a migraine map chart recently that pointed out some pains originating from GP nerve stimulation.
