I am on 600 mg per day of tegretol which completely eliminated my pain. However the side effects (drowsiness, fatigue, unsteadiness) have me looking for a procedure such as gamma knife that could get me off the medication. I'd love to hear from anyone who had the gamma knife surgery procedure or any other procedure that worked (my age rules out MVD surgery)

you may also want to check on a rhizotomy as well, I had a glycerol rhizotomy done and it releived the lightning stikes and zapping i got, but not the teeth pain or ear pain which is the more tn2 pain. I am not sure what kind you have. The one thing i learned about gamma is it can take months to even know if it worked. There is a great video on the Johns Hopkins website by dr. Lim where he goes into all the proceedures, i found it a great tool for learning the pros and cons of all the proceedures associated with TN.
