Failed MDV - now balloon decompression?

Hello fellow suffers. I’ve had TN for 12 yrs. for the most part I had been able to control it with meds and trying to manage my stress however last December I had MDV with the hope that I would be pain free for 10 yrs however I got 2 weeks. Then I was put on lyrica and the weight started to pile on. My surgeon has recommended that I try balloon decompression. While I can have another MDV he feels that it’s more dangerous on the second attempt. Has anyone had the balloon decompression? My surgeon is suggesting that I could be pain free for 2-3 yrs. thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks
Annette

I would ask surgeon…

what his initial MVD success rate is for TN1?
How many MVD done in a year?

Why did your MVD fail…or is it somewhat better?

Have you ever went for a second opinion?

I would not rush into any second procedure till you get another opinion, research, research,

When i flew to have MVD with one of the godfathers of MVD… I had to go back on low dose meds after 3 months… I was DEVESTATED

then 2 months after that…i got less and less pain…

It takes a year for everything to settle in there!

ALSO sometimes others have done two MVD,
IF you had TN for so many years beforehand.

Here is a link built here of topical meds to maybe have you hold off a bit without hurry into another procedure

Keep posting!

The MVD I had on my right side, which had been affected for almost ten years, relieved the shocks but failed to relieve the constant burning boring pain. I had a peripheral nerve stimulator implanted seven months after the MVD, and it works very well for pain management. I no longer take any meds!
Please feel free to ask any questions; I am happy to share my experience.
