I know this has probably been talked about before but I haven't seen it and can't find it plus maybe there are new questions and topics.
I have severe vision problems from my TN. I just had surgery on one side of my head about 2 1/2 months ago by gamma knife for my TN and the neurological opthamalogist eye surgeon said that if the gamma knife for the TN didn't relieve any of the pain or bring back any of my vision then the damage was going to be permanent and there would be nothing they could do to fix it. Today is a little better since there is no sun and my hubby is gone so there is no lights on in our home but if there are any lights or sun then the pain is unbearable and I am limited to about 1 minute on the computer. Even today I can't read what I am typing I just have to hope that my spelling is correct.
For any of you having eye problems I totally understand. I know the feeling of not reading restaurant menus, tags in clothes, tv channels, or any important papers it sucks to have to get someone to read it all to you. please know you are not alone no matter how you feel there are others out there.
Personally my vision did improve somewhat. I do still have days when its a little blurry. Outside I use larger framed sun glasses with a darker yellow tint …they seem to help alot. I also learned not to stress my eyes, when theyre blurry i rest them as much as i can by using larger print or just letting someone else read things like a menu for me
I was talking to a friend about this very problem a few months back. I now have the largest collection of sunnies known to man. I even have a light pair I use of an evening to dim headlights etc and watch TV with. I been really good since my last stint on Topimax, which seems to have reset it so far (fingers crossed). :)
Thanks for the replies ya'll. I am happy to hear that some of you have had improvement with your pain. I am still in the "we can't find what causes you to have the problems with your vision." They said it was the Trigeminal nerve causing it but now they think it is something else but they do not know what. They are giving me a Rx for some special glasses that are NOT magnified but filter out 85% of light. The doc said the name of the disorder he thought it was but said it usually comes with migranes. I informed him very LOUDLY that I do NOT have migraines but that I have Trigeminal and Occipital neuralgia. I am running out of patience I just want some help with making me feel better. Thanks for reading the original post and I am truly sorry for the venting.
My eyesight is very much affected by TN. It is a fact that bright sunlight caused my very first attack when I was only six years old. I was diagnosed 56 years 7 months later, after years of reticule from doctors who could find nothing wrong with my eye(s). Over the years I developed other "migraine" related problems, SUNCT & paroxysmal hemicrania continua. My eye sight is variable on the right side. I did not want to accept the second two diagnoses because the TN is enough. When my eye sight is very bad, the pressure behind my eye is bad , the eye orbit is tender, and swelled,
While on about six years of being on a series of drugs I put together of health food supplements and now have a partial remission. If I don't take 300 mg of CoQ10 each day, the devastating pain starts to come back. I also constantly wear hats, goggles out of doors , avoid drafts. (The meds made me a zombie and very clumsy.) I also take 3.5 mg of LDN. It seem to reduce inflammation and improve my attitude. N
