Does your face ever feel swollen?

Does the side where you feel your pain ever feel swollen to you?

Yes, in fact it actually does swell up during a flare. And gets red and very hot. This is common amongst us TNers. Last winter when I had flare ups around my left eye my vision went blurry too. It would go right back to normal when the pain wasn't there. I think inflammation plays a huge role.

From my understanding, swelling, redness in addition to possible increased tears, red eye, bunged nose, swollen eyes are not included in the diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia, according to IHS classification, but are not uncommonly reported by individuals on this site. These symptoms are more suited to sunct or suna, autonomic cephalgias of trigeminal origin, although I feel there is a massive overlap of these symptoms and causation. Not saying I'm right, someone might correct me, but just my understanding

Hey Jennifer! I have experienced the sensation of fullness in the areas affected. My face hasn’t been swollen to my knowledge but it does sometimes feel like it is.

Yes, the right side of my face is chronically swollen and a little red, even when I'm not having pain. This is easily noticed (when pointed out) by friends and family.

I am 3 mts out from mvd surg. Yesterday my eye swelled up. Still swollen this morn. Have used an ice pack. Had no hearing and a lot of pain in the ear. I don't know if the surgery did not work or its another nerve compressed or AD. I am worried tho as I had to leave to come back home for a cousin who is like a sister and is in he hosp on life support. Yesterday I was not able to go see her. I am getting scared cause I am 500 miles from home now. I had thought by now I would have my hearing back. Seems to just b getting worse...

I get all of those during attacks in various places. The scariest symptoms for me has been the blurry vision during a flare up around my left eye. My neuro said that I have symptoms of migraine and cluster. We tried migraine meds too but they didn't help. All of these symptoms go away 100% when the pain is not there.

My face gets so red and swollen now that my partner knows I am in pain right away. I have some very angry nerves!

Yes my right side gets swollen, usually more so when throbbing !

This morn when I got up I was congested. Could b I am getting a cold or flu. Hate getting sick however rather have that than the TN pain. I just took plain aspirin yesterday and layed down w an ice pack. Thanks for your comments.

I don't so much know about "swelling" of my face per se but I do notice dark bags under my eyes and my eyes feel swollen. My eyes also run water and get "goopy" junk in them. Is it related? I tend to think so but can't prove it.
